We selected ‘Angels in the Rye’ because:
-It fits thematically with our book group’s focus on inclusiveness and diverse stories.
-It is a novel by a Wisconsin author: Marsha Martin-Yates, who lives in Sturgeon Bay.
-The book is being made into a movie, which we may have a later opportunity to watch.
We will have the opportunity to meet the author for a book signing, movie trailer screening, and Q&A discussion about the book: Thurs, 5/7, 5:30pm at the Hub, 2352 South Park St.
Unfortunately, the Madison/Dane County Library systems do not have copies of the book, so we need to purchase it. It is available on Amazon for $16 (print) or $10 (Kindle): https://www.amazon.com/Angels-Rye-secrets-hatred-conquer-ebook/dp/B07CKCMG67
(Content warning: This novel involves themes of sexual violence and recovery from sexual trauma.)
We will be discussing the first half of ‘Angels in the Rye’ (length: 292 pages) at our April DMI DEAI Book Club meeting at noon on Tues, 4/14 on Zoom.
We will discuss the second half of the book at our May DMI DEAI Book Club meeting at noon on Tues, 5/12 on Zoom.
