Honoring Diane Ballweg
Each year, Women United recognizes and celebrates a woman who is committed to helping make our community a better place to live, for all. The Women United Philanthropy Award honors her achievements in educating, empowering and inspiring young women and girls to be philanthropic leaders in Dane County. This year, UWDC is so excited to be honoring Diane Ballweg!
Diane’s steadfast support for the well-being of our community is awe inspiring. Having served on more than 30 community Boards of Directors and as a member of the Harvard 2021 ALI Cohort – Advanced Leadership Initiative, Diane’s philanthropy has changed lives. Her axiom is “Live passionately and give generously.” She was a major funder in launching the HIRE employment initiative at United Way of Dane County and provided a leading investment for the COVID-19 Relief and Recovery Fund through United Way. Most recently she helped encourage others to endow their annual Tocqueville Society gift by offering a major matching challenge during United Way’s Centennial year.
As a member of Women United, Diane embodies the work UWDC does: Investing in Education and Igniting Change. A former special education and music teacher at various local schools, her passion for education has made her a lifelong learner. Diane secretly took flying lessons for two years, surprising family and friends when she became a licensed pilot. Her love of flying inspired her to establish and teach an aviation class at Edgewood High School. Diane also takes corporate philanthropy to new heights through her family business Endres Manufacturing and its foundation.
UWDC is overjoyed to recognize Diane not only for her unwavering support of the work done at United Way, but for her time, generosity and passion for the well-being of our community.
