Week Without Driving Community Discussion – Sun Prairie
Join the City of Sun Prairie, in partnership with the Greater Madison Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO), Capital Area Regional Planning Commission (CARPC), Sun Prairie Action Resource Coalition, Dane Alliance for Rational Transportation, Sun Prairie Area School District, and AARP Wisconsin, for a Community Panel Discussion on Tuesday, September 30th from 7:00-8:30pm as part of the Week Without Driving.
This event is part of a regional panel discussion series for the Week Without Driving (September 29-October 5), that will bring Dane County residents together to talk about transportation equity and accessibility. Inspired by Anna Zivarts’ book, “When Driving Is Not An Option: Steering Away from Car Dependency,” the discussion will explore how car dependency impacts people with disabilities, older adults, young people, and others who can’t drive—and what it takes to build communities where everyone can get around safely and independently.
This hybrid event will be held in-person at the Sun Prairie City Hall (1st Floor Community Room), 300 E. Main St., Sun Prairie, WI 53590 and online here: https://us02web.zoom.us/j/81295977367. The panel discussion will be co-moderated by City of Sun Prairie District 4 Council Member and MPO Policy Board Member Cassi Benedict, and Capital Area RPC Commissioner Bill Tishler, with panelists including:
– Terry Larson, Sun Prairie Resident
– Alex Allon, Community Development Director, Village of DeForest
– Sun Prairie Neighborhood Navigator
– David Salmon, Transportation Coordinator, City of Sun Prairie
