MMoCA’s Citywide Gallery Night Returns in November
The Madison Museum of Contemporary Art (MMoCA) is pleased to present Gallery Night, a celebration of arts, culture, and community taking place at 65 venues in the Madison area on Friday, November 12, from 5-9 PM. During the evening, individuals can experience works by local, national and international artists and artisans.
From your favorite neighborhood spot to downtown pop-ups, galleries, museums, cafes, restaurants, and other local businesses join together to host a community-wide night out like none other. The evening will be packed with performances, receptions, artist talks, art-making demonstrations, and live music.
Gallery Night was founded by a group of volunteers in 1988 with just six participating art venues, all located on State Street in downtown Madison. Today, MMoCA staff coordinate the event, registering dozens of diverse venues in the greater Madison area. Historically held each spring and fall, Gallery Night has been on hiatus since spring, 2020, when it was held virtually due to Covid-19.
Due to current conditions related to the ongoing pandemic, some venues have opted to participate in a virtual capacity, some have set their own hours within the official Gallery Night time, and some have specific requests for visitors. Patrons are asked to follow all recommended and requested safety guidelines for this event.
To help visitors plan their Gallery Night excursions, a digital map of participating venues and a complete list of venues can be found at mmoca.org/gallerynight.
