Madison Night Market Fuses with Science on the Square
Madison’s Central Business Improvement District (BID) welcomes the entire community to the Madison Night Market on October 16, from 5-9 p.m. on N. Carroll and W. Mifflin Streets on Capitol Square and State Street. The Madison Night Market and the Wisconsin Science Festival’s Science on the Square join forces for an evening that blends shopping, science, and celebration in downtown Madison. Discover 100+ local artists, makers, food vendors, and live performances. Explore hands-on science experiments, interactive demos, and family-friendly activities that spark curiosity for all ages. This one-night-only fusion event is where creativity and innovation meet in the heart of the city!
Experience NEW Interactive Lights and Art
Two new interactive light installations are bringing energy and creativity to the downtown community. At the top of State Street experience a wave of dancing lights, illuminating and floating above the future Wisconsin History Center site. And on the 400 block of Gilman Street starting at Broom Street, find illuminated dragon flies buzzing over the food truck court. Both light installations were part of the Isthmus Safety Initiative, a federal grant funded program designed to strengthen community safety through improved environmental design elements, including enhanced lighting. Madison’s Central BID collaborated with a consortium of partners on the project, including Downtown Madison, Inc., Public Health Madison & Dane County, the City of Madison Community Development Division, the Madison Police Department, the University of Wisconsin Population Health Institute, and a community-based Advisory Council.
Fun for the whole family! Where State Street meets Capitol Square, you’ll find the Madison Night Market Family Activity Zone, filled with family-friendly activities to keep kids (and their grown-ups!) engaged and entertained.
- Adults vs Kids Fitness Challenge – Test your strength and stamina in a fun showdown hosted by sponsor, MADabolic Madison.
- Art Project from Kids in the Rotunda – Join friends from the Overture Center’s Kids in the Rotunda program for a fun and easy craft project.
- MSCR Outdoor Play – MSCR brings outdoor kids’ activities to the Capitol Lawn for the final Madison Night Market of the season.
