City of Madison is hiring for an Office of Business Resources Manager
The City of Madison Office of Business Resources (OBR) is part of the Economic Development Division (EDD), which is part of the Department of Planning, Community, and Economic Development (DPCED). The OBR Manager is a highly visible, senior-level economic development position, working directly with the Mayor, Common Council, and business organizations to develop and implement economic development policies, projects and programs to build a broader business community. The OBR Manager directly supervises a professional staff, leads business retention/expansion efforts, and directs City entrepreneurship programs. Working directly with businesses, entrepreneurs, site selectors, brokers, developers, business organizations, alderpersons, and staff from other city departments, the OBR team provides assistance, information and support needed to retain, locate, expand or start businesses in the City. The OBR Manager also oversees the City’s street vending and sidewalk café programs. This work is characterized by considerable judgment, independence, and discretion coupled with necessary collaboration with individuals inside and outside of City government. The OBR Manager reports directly to the EDD Director, with significant oversight by the DPCED Director and Deputy Mayor for Economic Development.
