Bikes for Kids Wisconsin: Big Breakdown
Join Bikes for Kids Wisconsin for Dane County’s largest hands-on recycling event, the Big Breakdown on September 27th, 12:00-3pm! They’ll be breaking down up to 100 bikes through their circular economy model to fill their parts bins as they prepare for their refurb-cycle, October through March.
40 volunteers are needed to do the work. Recycling and reuse is the name of the game at the Big Breakdown! Some of the work will include bringing the bikes from the parking area into the bike center so they can get them processed and broken down. To date, they’ve kept 97,000 lbs. of materials out of the landfill through this process.
It is recommended that you bring work gloves to protect your hands from metal. Youth over the age of 12 are welcome with a parent or caregiver. Thanks to their sponsor, Risk Alternatives, they’ll be providing refreshments. Sign up to volunteer here: https://bikesforkidswi.org/bigbreakdown2/
