In 2016, DMI adopted a civic agenda with a commitment to support greater downtown housing densities, diversity, mixed-use, workforce housing, and sustainability to serve all socio-economic groups in our downtown area. While each of these housing sectors are important to the vitality of downtown Madison, the shortage of affordable housing is at the forefront of the issues facing our City in 2016. DMI acknowledges that it cannot physically create new affordable housing units; however, DMI can serve as a catalyst for community support amongst our Members, in a way that promotes and facilitates the development of affordable housing in the City of Madison. To serve this purpose, DMI produced an Affordable Housing White Paper to educate and inform members and the community at large.
