2012 Downtown Plan
2012 Downtown Plan
The City of Madison Downtown Plan was approved by the Common Council in 2012. The plan provides recommendations on development, land use, and infrastructure specific to downtown and as it connects to the City of Madison as a whole. It is a legal document that provides a definitive guideline for the future land use and development of the downtown area.
DMI played an integral role in developing the Downtown Plan by working with City of Madison staff, local officials, and planning professionals. Specifically, DMI worked with a group of Downtown Real Estate Professionals and Downtown Design Professionals to assess the downtown in terms of design, density, flow, and process. Many of DMI’s recommendations were included in the final Downtown Plan which will help guide and shape our central city for many years to come.
