Accessibility Design Forum

OVERVIEW:
You are invited to a virtual Accessibility Design Forum on Tuesday, July 26 from 9:00am-12:30pm and in-person networking event from 4:00-6:00pm. The purpose of the forum is to inform and educate people to advance accessibility beyond compliance in the built world, and have individual and systemic actionable steps to take away. The forum will feature panel discussions on the following topics:
- “Understanding the Process” – How to find common dialogue to achieve accessibility and inclusion
- “The Value of Accessibility” – How can accessibility and inclusion be a priority in the design process, and what does value mean?
- “Multifamily Housing with Universal Appeal” – How can universal design be more significant in multifamily housing projects?

Following the virtual forum, an in-person networking event will take place from 4:00-6:00pm at the Ovation 309 Sky Club, 309 W. Johnson St., Madison, WI 53703.
Both the virtual forum and in-person networking event are free of charge. All are welcome and encouraged to attend!
REGISTRATION:
The virtual forum will be taking place using Zoom. Please use the link below to register for and access the virtual forum.
For the in-person networking event, separate registration is required for catering. Please use the form below to register.
EVENT ACCESSIBILITY:
Sign language interpreters and captioning will be available for the virtual event. Sign language interpreters will be available for the in-person networking event. For additional accommodation requests, please contact DMI at info@downtownmadison.org or 608-512-1331. Requests should be made no later than 5:00pm on Friday, July 22nd.
For the in-person networking event, DMI asks that attendees refrain from using flash photography, and from wearing heavily-scented products such as perfume or cologne. This helps ensure an event that is inclusive to people with various disabilities.
AIA Continuing Education:
AIA Wisconsin is a Registered Provider for the AIA Continuing Education System [CES]. AIA members can earn up to 3.0 AIA/CES learning unit hours by participating in the panel discussions. AIA member attendance will be live tracked by the event website and reported to AIA/CES. Participants must attend full live session to receive AIA/CES credit.
COVID PROTOCOLS:
DMI is no longer requiring full vaccination or a negative COVID-19 test to attend in-person events, but still encourage all attendees and members to get fully vaccinated and boosted and follow CDC guidelines. Masks are also optional and welcome at this event. Individuals experiencing symptoms of sickness are asked to please not attend in-person.
IN-PERSON EVENT PARKING & TRANSPORTATION:
For the in-person networking event, there are a limited number of stalls in the Ovation parking garage, located on Johnson Street. These stalls are prioritized for attendees with disabilities who need to park close to the entrance. DMI asks that attendees without mobility needs who need to park for the event, should park in the City of Madison Overture Center Garage located at 300 W. Dayton St. and standard parking rates apply. A limited amount of street parking may also be available. Metro Transit, Madison BCycle, and bicycle transportation are options as well.
