Dane Dances! is excited to continue its tradition of FREE MUSIC on the Monona Terrace rooftop every Friday night in August. Event times are from 5:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. with rain backup locations so that the music will play rain or shine. New bands in this year's lineup include: Ladies Must Swing, The Jimmys and Christopher's Project. The bands that perform are high energy, local and regional bands. Funk, Latin, Jazz, R&B, Hip Hop and Reggae are just part of the mix. Anyone who enjoys excellent music, dancing, and ethnic foods is sure to have an enjoyable evening. LearningRx Madison LearningRx, the country's leading personal brain training company announced its 2010 National Trainer of the Year at the annual convention. They awarded this highest personal honor to Wil Guernsey, a Master-level Trainer from LearningRx South Central Wisconsin. Guernsey was selected out of 350 trainers who were up for nomination from 68 LearningRx training locations nationwide. Some of the criteria used during the selection were training ability, customer service excellence, students' increases in cognitive skill level, and additional contributions to the organization.

Target Commercial Interiors Madison was recognized as an award nominee at a United Way luncheon April 21, 2010. The Award banquet was hosted by Jessica Doyle, Wisconsin’s First Lady, and was attended by 400 senior business leaders and community volunteers. Target Commercial Interiors was nominated for an award by Habitat for Humanity for Debbie Alton’s efforts in co-chairing the Habitat fund development committee and Target Commercial Interiors’ on-going financial contributions and employee participation.

For the second consecutive year, Wells Fargo & Company (NYSE: WFC) has taken several top spots in the first North American round of Global Finance magazine’s World’s Best Internet Banks competition. Wells Fargo was named the Best Consumer Internet Bank and Best Corporate/Institutional Internet Bank in the U.S. In the Consumer category, Wells Fargo again was the U.S. winner in Bill Payment and Presentment, Best Web Site Design, and Best Online Deposits Acquisition, and added Best Integrated Consumer Bank Site. On the Corporate/Institutional side, Wells Fargo earned Best Website Design and Best Information Security Initiatives.

Sales and Marketing Executives – Madison (SME) awarded two Downtown Madison, Inc. members “The Spirit of Pepper Martin Award” handed out for the exceptional efforts of SME members. The winners were Christin Mlsna from J.H. Findorff & Son and Tammy Jelinek from Wells Fargo Bank. The awards will be officially presented at the SME September 9, 2010 meeting.

Greg Lawless has been named the first executive director of Dane Buy Local, a network of locally owned, independent businesses that has grown to nearly 450 members. Lawless assumed the position as of August 2, 2010, and will establish relationships with individuals and organizations throughout Dane County to further the Buy Local message. Lawless brings nearly 18 years of experience in locally focused economic development to his position at Dane Buy Local.

Jim Hess has announced he will retire effective December 10, 2010, after ten years of service as Monona Terrace Executive Director. During his tenure, Hess effectively balanced Monona Terrace's roles as a community gathering place, tourist destination, and economic catalyst. Prior to coming to Monona Terrace, Jim was the Director of the Century II Convention & Performing Arts Center in Wichita, Kansas for 14 years, and has been in the venue management industry for 34 years. Congratulations to Jim!

Richard A. Hansen, CEO of Johnson Financial has formally announced his plans for retirement. Russell C. Weyers will become the fourth President and CEO of Johnson Financial effective January 2011. "Russ has worked side-by-side with Dick over the years to build a culture, company and reputation we are all proud of. Over the next six months, they will continue to be a great team to ensure a seamless and successful transition," said Chairman of the Johnson Financial Group, Helen Johnson-Leipold.
