The Madison/Dane County Homeless Services Consortium (HSC) will be conducting an annual summer Point in Time Count of Homelessness (PIT) on July 25th. This count is one way that is nationally recognized to track progress trends on the goal to reduce homelessness in our community. On the night of the PIT count, approximately 50 volunteers will go out on the streets of Madison and Dane County, to locate individuals and families sleeping on the streets, in vehicles and in tents to conduct a brief survey. The HSC is hoping to raise $800-$1,000 in PIT funds this year that will be used to purchase bus tickets and $5 gas cards. PIT volunteers will hand these out after conducting surveys. Homelessness affects our entire community and this is one way your group can have an impact on this critical issue. If you would like to know more about this event or can contribute funds toward our goal of $1,000, please contact (608) 266-6254 or tkoppmueller@cityofmadison.com.
