There is an exciting project happening in Madison, and you are invited to participate! A new homeless day resource center that will serve a variety of needs and run by Catholic Charities of Madison is coming to 615 E. Washington Avenue. The center now needs a name and anyone or group is welcome to submit a naming idea as part of the “Name the Center” contest. The winner will be honored with a special gift and recognition at the ribbon cutting ceremony! Submit your name idea on the Catholic Charities Facebook or enter your idea in a form on the namethecenter.org webpage during the submission period from March 22 - April 7. Then, everyone will have an opportunity to vote on their favorite name from April 8 – 14, with the winner being announced in April!

National Guardian Life Insurance Company (NGL) and its affiliates reported a record sales year of $732 million in 2016. The 2016 sales results contributed to the growth of the consolidated statutory assets to $4.1 billion. On a consolidated statutory basis, NGL achieved a net gain of $24.9 million which was very positive given the pressure that the unprecedented low investment rate environment continues to place on operating performance. In a recent ceremony at the Wisconsin State Capitol, Governor Scott Walker applauded the winners for efforts to promote financial literacy in schools, the workplace, and in communities throughout the state.

The Greater Madison Chamber of Commerce’s IceBreaker returns for its third year on Friday, April 28th from 11am-1pm with the theme “Prodigium,” which is Latin for an omen or sign of things to come and is the Latin root of prodigy. On April 7, Upper House is excited to host a one-day symposium exploring how the literary imagination intersects with sacred tradition, and how the cultivation of spiritual and intellectual disciplines can better inform our pursuit of a rich and examined life.
