With our downtown located on an isthmus, our transit challenges and opportunities are even more apparent and require a variety of solutions to facilitate transport to, from and throughout downtown for all residents, visitors and workers. Developing a robust bicycle system is not only one of the solutions, it’s also imperative in order to keep Madison and our downtown healthy, livable and economically strong.

DMI continues to work with City of Madison staff, local officials, the bicycle industry and bike advocates on policies, projects and plans that enhance bicycle transportation and infrastructure in and through downtown Madison. Issues and initiatives have included supporting bicycle infrastructure projects, preparing the City of Madison Platinum Bike Designation application, advocating for timely and adequate winter bike-way snow removal and promoting bicycling resources and events.
